(July 21, 2014) - DC United, Washington DC’s soccer team, hosted Autism Awareness Night at RFK stadium on Sunday, July 20th in partnership with the National Capital Area Chapter of Autism Speaks and Bike to the Beach. Five dollars of every ticket sold with the Autism Speaks discount code benefited the National Capital Area Chapter to support its mission of changing the lives of the 1 in 68 living with autism.
Top teams and corporate sponsors from the recent Autism Speaks 4th of July 5k and the upcoming Bike to the Beach DC ride were recognized on the field at halftime, including Team Owen’s Turn, Joe’s Amazing Burgers, Team Parvizian, Team Bike to the Brunch and Team Balance Gym. Kids also participated in the High Five Tunnel and welcomed players as they ran onto the field at the start of the game.
The night was a great success, particularly because DC United won the match against Chivas USA (3-1) moving them into the first place spot! All are staying tuned to see if their winning streak continues and are awaiting the next Autism Awareness Night with DC United in the future.
